Mountain Bike Tour (Himalaya Foothill Cycling) is an amazing ride experience in and around Kathmandu Valley. This uphill and downhill bike trip will be exciting for cyclists and bike enthusiasts.

By taking this trip, you enjoy an active week long holiday journey. As you might have heard, Kathmandu Valley is naturally really beautiful. So, a bike trip around its surrounding hills will serve you with the best views.

Getting out of Kathmandu – starting the mountain bike tour

We will spend our first day of the trip in Kathmandu, preparing all the logistics and setting out the travel plans to everyone. Meet your guide, travel coordinators and companions over a welcome dinner, and stay in a 3-Star Hotel.

The second day, we will start our journey towards Kakani. It’s a naturally gifted hill on Kathmandu’s north. Our destination for the next few days will be Nagi Gumba, Nagarkot and Dhulikhel.

Nagi Gumba is on the foothills of Shivapuri National Park in Budhanilkantha. From there, our mountain bike tour heads towards Nagarkot. Sunrise and sunset views are amazing from Nagarkot. Besides that, it’s also a weekend get away for local and international tourists.

From Nagarkot, bike your way back to Kathmandu over the period of two days. The first stop – Dhulikhel, is another beautiful town worth visiting. The next day, we retrace the mountain bike tour back to Kathmandu via Lubu.

Enjoy the serenity of lush green hills with the Mountain Bike Tour

The journey is an artistic interactive with majestic mountains, lush green forests, hiking and cycling trails, beautiful villages and local people. We will bike for 4-6 hours everyday, covering a distance of 30 kilometers in average. Our mountain bike tours uses best class of strong bikes and helmets. You will need to carry a bottle of water and refill it in various stops to stay re-hydrated.

Biking through the trail you pass numbers of temples and monasteries which have very authentic historical, cultural and traditional importance. The trail offers you the scenery of Ganesh and Langtang peaks in the north. The villages we pass, the traditional people, cultivated lands, zigzag roads, smiling children, Buddha prayer flags will light up your soul as you travel.

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu Airport / Transfer to Hotel

Arrive at Kathmandu airport. Get picked up by our staff and transfered to your designated hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. Take rest or browse Thamel until we meet for a welcome dinner and tour brief in the evening. Accommodation: 3-Star Hotel in Kathmandu


Day 2 Bike from Kathmandu to Kakani

Meet you travel companion, mountain bike and start the journey after breakfast. We head north and leave Kathmandu city towards Kakani. Enjoy fresh air as you ascend the hill of Kakani. Spend the day touring the famous Kakani Park, and nearby villages. Accommodation: Lodge in Kakani


Day 3 Kakani to Nagi Gumba

After breakfast, get back on your bike and head west through the forest trails towards Budhanilkantha, a beautiful town in Kathmandu's northern foothills. Nearby is the shivapuri National Park area. Budhanilkantha has a famous temple with the same name, of sleeping Bishnu. We will make a short visit to the temple and get back to our journey the next day. Accommodation: Lodge in Budhanilkantha


Day 4 Nagi Gumba to Nagarkot

After breakfast, we continue our journey. First stop, Budhanilkantha Temple just two kilometers from the monastery. From there, we will continue our trip towards Nagarkot. Enjoy a beautiful sunset on the terrace of Club Himalaya, a top notch Resort in Nagarkot. Remember to watch your clock because you wouldn't want to miss the sunrise the next morning. Accommodation: Club Himalaya, Nagarkot


Day 5 Nagarkot to Dhulikhel

Wake up around 5.45 and find a peaceful spot at the hotel terrace. Watch the sun rise in the east and paint the northern hills orange and yellow. Sunrise at Nagarkot is one of the must-experience things in Nepal. It's a poetic scenery to watch and experience. After breakfast, continue the cycling journey towards Dhulikhel. To avoid the main highway, we will follow the Naladay route.


Day 6 Dhulikhel to Kathmandu

Today's our last cycling journey. From Dhulikhel, we will enter Kathmandu valley from the east. We will trace our ride towards Lubu and enter the central city from the south. Follow your guide as s/he retraces your trip back to your hotel in Kathmandu. Accommodation: 3-Star Hotel in Kathmandu


Day 7 Final Departure / Airport Transfer

As per your flight schedule, we will arrange your drop off to the airport in Kathmandu. This is the end of the amazing Mountain Bike Tour in Nepal with Master Himalaya.
