Drive from Illam to Ranipul and Trek to Sukathum/Japantar (1,576m)
A short drive of about 3-4 hours from Illam brings you to Ranipul located in Taplejung district, the gateway to the Kanchenjunga trekking route. Then, you’ll trek in picturesque villages and verdant hills, covering 43 km, in about 5-6 hours before staying at a cozy tea house in Sukathum/Japantar.

Trek from Sukathum to Amjilosa (2,400m)
Your trek progresses through dense forests, crossing suspension bridges over roaring rivers. The 5-6 hour trek culminates at Amjilosa, marking your entry deeper into the Kanchenjunga Himal region, a serene hamlet surrounded by natural beauty.

Trek from Amjilosa to Gyabla (2,730m)
A 7-8 hour trek takes you further into the heart of the mountains. Walking through bamboo groves and rhododendron forests, you’ll ascend to the charming village of Gyabla for an overnight stay.

Trek from Gyabla to Ghunsa (3,415m)
A moderate 4-5 hour trek leads you to Ghunsa, a quaint settlement known for its Tibetan-inspired culture. Rest in a tea house and soak in the mountain ambiance. Ghunsa is also a key acclimatization hub on the Kanchenjunga Circuit trekking route.

Acclimatization Day in Ghunsa
A day of rest and exploration, culturally significant "Holy site" of the Kirati community, allowing time to acclimatize to the altitude. This acclimatization day is essential for the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek and helps prepare for higher elevations in the Kanchenjunga Himal region.

Trek from Ghunsa to Khambachen (4,050m)
The trek becomes more challenging as you climb higher into alpine territory. After 4-5 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Khambachen, offering breathtaking views of snow-clad peaks. This section is part of the classic Kanchenjunga trekking route.

Trek from Khambachen to Lhonak (4,780m)
A 4-5 hour trek through rugged terrain brings you to Lhonak, a remote area with dramatic mountain vistas. This is a true high-altitude experience. Lhonak lies close to the northern part of the Kanchenjunga Circuit trekking trail.

Day Trip to Pangpema (5,143m) or Kanchenjunga North Base Camp (5,388m)
Thrilling 7-8 hour trek to the North Base Camp, the closest view of Kanchenjunga’s majestic northern face. Return to Lhonak for an overnight stay. This is one of the main highlights of the Kanchenjunga Base Camp trekking experience.

Descending through familiar trails, you’ll cover 20 km in 6-7 hours, returning to Ghunsa. Enjoy the comforts of the tea house at a lower altitude. This descent day ensures better acclimatization on the Kanchenjunga Circuit trek.

Trek from Ghunsa to Sele La High Camp (4,130m)
A challenging 4-5 hour trek takes you to Sele La High Camp, passing through the Sele La Pass (4,290m). The alpine landscapes and views are spectacular.

Trek from Sele La High Camp to Cheram (3,870m)
Cross several high passes—Sinion La (4,440m), Mirgin La (4,480m), and Sinelapche Bhanjyang (4,646m)—before descending to Cheram. This 4-5 hour trek offers awe-inspiring panoramas. These high passes are iconic parts of the Kanchenjunga trekking route.

Trek from Cheram to Yalung Glacier and Back to Cheram.
A long 8-9 hour trek takes you to the Yalung Glacier at 4,500m via Oktang (4,620m), providing unparalleled views of the Kanchenjunga south face. Return to Cheram for the night.

Trek from Cheram to Torngdin (2,995m)
Trek downhill for 6-7 hours, covering 18 km, to reach the tranquil village of Torngdin. The journey is marked by forested paths and cascading rivers.

Trek from Torongdin to Yamphudin (1,650m)
This 7-8 hour trek descends to Yamphudin, passing through subtropical forests and traditional villages. The lower altitude brings warmer weather and diverse flora. Yamphudin is an important settlement along the Kanchenjunga trekking route.

A 9-10 hour drive takes you through rolling tea gardens and scenic landscapes to Ilam, the tea capital of Nepal. Relax in this charming hill town.
